Daily Devotional

Do you even realize how much God Loves You! Yes YOU! Every single detail of your daily life is so very important to God, the one who placed the sun, moon, stars and universe in it's place ALSO cares deeply about whether you will get that job, if your children will ever listen to you, if your parents will stay together or separate, if you car gets fixed, if you have a home, if you will eat tonight, if that long lost friend will ever be in your life again...."EVERY" thing that is important to you IS important to God! Trails can be a distractions, BUT when you allow God To be God in the process of moving "Through" the trial, God Will not only restore all that you have lost along the way, but He will create in you all that you were meant to be in the first place, allowing you to fully step into the reason your were created.

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:7

Can You Keep a Secret?

LIZ CURTIS HIGGS

October 5, 2017

“A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” Proverbs 11:13 (NIV)
You’re hanging out with friends. Sharing a meal, sharing your lives. Someone’s name comes up. Someone who isn’t there.

A comment is made. “Have you seen ______?” Then another. “Well, I heard ______.”Once people realize you know the person they’re talking about better than anyone else at the table, heads turn in your direction. Faces look at you expectantly. What happens next depends on how willing you are to honor today’s key verse from Proverbs and the One who wrote it.We often think of gossip as a verb — something we do. But here it’s a ...

Successful Learning Starts by Immersing in God’s Word

By Rick Warren — Oct 5, 2017

“Never stop reciting these teachings. You must think about them night and day so that you will faithfully do everything written in them. Only then will you prosper and succeed” (Joshua 1:8 GW).
To really excel in whatever you’re learning (whether it’s a new skill, a new theory, or about a new person), you must first steep yourself in God’s Word.

I chose the word steep intentionally. Do you know what it means to steep a tea bag? You take a tea bag out, dunk it in hot water, and bounce it up and down. You can’t do that quickly. You won’t have any tea. You need to do it slowly. When you do that, you extract all of the flavor out of that tea bag.You need to do the same...

Every Storm Is a School, Every Trial a Teacher

By Rick Warren — Sep 21, 2017

“This small and temporary trouble we suffer will bring us a tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than the trouble” (2 Corinthians 4:17 GNT).

When we go through difficulties in life, the first thing we often try to do is blame somebody else. But it doesn’t matter where your problem came from — God still has a purpose for it in your life. Even when you do stupid things, God can use it. Even when other people hurt you intentionally, he can use it. Even when the Devil plans bad things for your life, God can bring good out of it.

God’s purpose is greater than your problems and your pain. He has a plan! You need to look past the temporary pain and look instead at the long-term benefit in your life.

Romans 5:3-4...

“The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” 1 Samuel 17:37a (NLT)

Of all the wonderful stories in the Bible, the story of David and Goliath remains one of my favorites. Just imagining David — a young boy — loading a small stone into a sling and stepping onto a battlefield (knowing he was going to face a giant) bolsters my sometimes-fragile faith.

Can’t you just picture David as he stepped out in front of enemies and critics? Can you hear the naysayers?By earthly standards, David was woefully unprepared to engage Goliath. The Bible says Goliath was over nine feet tall and covered in more than 125 pounds of armor. Not exactly a fair fig...

Rest, and Trust God’s Timing

By Rick Warren — Sep 17, 2017

“Rest in the Lord; wait patiently for him to act … Don’t fret and worry — it only leads to harm” (Psalm 37:7-8 TLB).
Proverbs 19:2b says, “Impatience will get you into trouble” (GNT). It’s frustrating when you’re in a hurry and God isn’t. God is never in a hurry! The Bible says a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day to God. One of the most useless things to try to do is to speed up God. When we try to take matters into our own hands and help God out, we get in trouble.

When you get a dream from God and make the decision to go for it but then are forced into God’s waiting room, you start trying to figure out ways of ...

Discipline Invites Respect

Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Hebrews 12:9

Discipline invites respect, whether it’s your children or your coworkers. Discipline is an application of accountability and is a consequence for unwise actions. If you are tuned in and discerning, you will apply discipline soon after the offense. Delayed discipline dilutes the dangers of bad decisions. If someone thinks they are getting away with something, they will drift further toward destructive habits. This is why it is wise to discipline our children sooner rather than later. They may not like it, but they will respect you for taking the time to correct the...

Using Your Gifts Is an Act of Worship

By Rick Warren — Aug 27, 2017

“My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit” (John 15:8a AMP).
When you use the gifts that God has given you, it is an act of worship.

What makes God smile? Some people think God only smiles when you’re praying or singing or going to church. The truth is, God smiles when you use the gifts that he’s given you. When you’re doing what you were wired and shaped to do, God says, “That’s so cool! I created them to do that!”

There’s a memorable moment in the movie Chariots of Fire, when Olympic runner Eric Liddell said, “When I run, I feel God’s pleasure.” God shaped some people to run. He shaped others to ride bikes...

When Temptation Calls, Just Hang Up

By Rick Warren — Aug 19, 2017

“A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless” (Proverbs 14:16 NASB).It’s common sense that if you don’t want to get stung, stay away from the bees! If you don’t want to get burned, don’t get close to the fire! If you don’t want to fall off the cliff, don’t hang off the ledge! The goal is not to see how close you can get to temptation but rather how far away from it you can stay.Proverbs 14:16 says, “A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless” (NASB). A fool thinks he can handle temptation, but who is he kidding? You don’t go to a bar just to eat pretzels! Y...

If God Is in it, I Can Rest

“Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” Acts 5:38-39 (NIV)

I felt God in the details from the beginning. It was hard work, but I was grateful to do it. I did everything I was supposed to do, but it didn’t turn out the way I hoped.

Have you ever been there? You’re doing everything you feel Jesus has called you to do. It’s a mix of messy and beautiful, and you’re OK with that. You love the times you sense God doing something powerful, but there are times you work as hard as you can, and...

Choose Holiness over Happiness

By Rick Warren — Aug 18, 2017

“We are tempted when we are drawn away and trapped by our own evil desires. Then our evil desires conceive and give birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death” (James 1:14-15 GNT).
Today we live in an age of irresponsibility, where no one wants to admit that their problems are their own fault. We’ve all become victims. No problem we have is ever considered our fault anymore; it’s always somebody else’s problem. We blame others. We blame the government, the media, our parents, the schools, our DNA, and the environment — everything but ourselves.

The truth is that we bring most of our problems on ourselves. We just need to accept responsibility and...
